In the world of music, a song making it into the top 10 is considered a “big hit”. In the crowded GOP presidential primary, making it into the top 10 gets a candidate invited to a debate. The rule is the result of so many Republicans vying for the party’s presidential nomination. It is almost without question that former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, and Senators Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz will make the cut. That is certainly not the case for much lesser known candidates such as former New York Governor George Pataki, former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, and Ohio Governor John Kasich.
However, the latter two now have a ray of hope. According to the latest Quinnipiac University poll, both Kasich and Fiorina are in the top 10 candidates. The poll shows that Marco Rubio has been steadily losing support among Republican voters. Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee has seen his support revive. Retired Dr. Ben Carson has surged. Jeb Bush has lost support and Scott Walker remains fixed. Still, there is no clear cut leader among Republicans. There is in fact a five way tie for first place.
As previously stated, both Fiorina and Kasich have made the top 10. That said, they only register with 2% support apiece. This means they both still have a long way to go in order to become serious presidential contenders. However, Daniel Amen knows both candidates are still considered long shots.
