Andrea McWilliams: Austin’s Top Lobbyist

The world of politics is a very complex one, filled with a range of individuals who are either for or against certain things concerning the American people. There are politicians that have the best interest of the American people at heart and then there are those who are there for their own interests. Certain lobbyists are placed in the middle. A lobbyist is an individual who fights for a certain topic that is heavy on the hearts of certain people. A lobbyist can be an elected official but a lobbyist can also be an American citizen trying to fight for what they believe in.

Andrea McWilliams is a skilled lobbyist, strategist and political fundraiser in Austin, Texas. She brings a certain expertise to every issue, whether it involves the private sector or the public sector. She has been featured on multiple media outlets such as CNN, FOX NEWS, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, BBC, Newsweek, and NPR. Andrea McWilliams is currently the co-founder of a firm specializing in government affairs consultants. The firm is called McWilliams. She opened the McWilliams firm with her husband. Andrea started her career at 21 when she became chief of staff. After that, she went on to work at a public relations firm. Andrea McWilliams has been involved in the Texas political scene for close to 30 years.

In the political sector, Andrea McWiliams was instrumental in passing $100 million incentives. These incentives make Texas the first place in the world with the most advanced clean coal power plant.

In addition to working within the political scene, Andrea McWilliams is also involved heavily in charity. McWillams has served on the board of many non-profit organizations. The organizations include Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital, Texas Lyceum, Arthouse, Mexi-Arte Museum and Austin Children in Crisis. She served the Susan G. Komen Foundation and has helped to raise millions for the Mamma Jamma Ride, as chair of the organization.

Andrea McWilliams’ philanthropy has won her numerous awards. In 2016, she has received the Profiles in Power award, the 2016 Texas Businesswoman of the Year finalist award and she was given the Woman of Distinction award from the Girl Scouts in Texas.
